CONGRATULATIONS to Cheryl for bringing Les Moulins La Fayette to Ottawa!

Based in Quebec, Les Moulins La Fayette is a bakery café concept not unlike those found in France. Baker, confectioner and fifth generation chocolatier Johnny Jeulin opened the first location in 1994 in St. Sauveur in the Laurentians area just north of Montreal, after coming to Canada from France just five years earlier.  Les Moulins La Fayette offers a wide selection of fresh breads, pastries and baked good along with fresh made sandwiches and salads and fine coffees.  Presently there are 13 locations in Quebec and one in Miami Beach in Florida. Late last week, Licensees Ghummaz Bhatti, Veda Rajole and Aditya Budhiraja opened the first Les Moulins La Fayette bakery café in Ottawa.   The 1932 square foot street front unit is in The Eddy at 1000 Wellington Ave. West, a new condominium project in the trendy Hintonburg area, just west of Ottawa’s downtown core.  The licensees are planning to expand the concept in the Ottawa market using this first location as a flagship.   High traffic and highly visible sites, ideally near the LRT, are preferred.  The target size is in a 1500 to 2000 square foot range.  Cheryl Kardish-Levitan at CLV Realty Corporation, Brokerage handled the Wellington Ave. transaction and will be representing the Licensees moving forward with future Ottawa locations.  In addition to the Ottawa location, Les Moulins La Fayette has previously noted that licensees will be opening units in the Toronto and Mississauga markets later this year.
